i`ve been playing trumpet for a year now... i played trumpet for a year in 6th grade (im a sophmore in highschool and joined a concert band this year) and i just got my braces few months ago... its really frustrating to reach high notes... i know i should be practicing everyday but.. maybe all you high note players felt this too... wanting to learn it the fast way... im sure there is no such thing as `shortcuts` in trumpet... but. i want to learn how to practice to reach for high notes... will anyone tell me how? Alex Kim gave me a good advice.. and also maybe i should put some time into it everyday and practice for 30 minutes... but i dont know what to practice... =/..

I have been playin trumpet since grade 2, and i am now in yr 9. To get up to the high notes, make sure u have warmed up a little bit, but not too much. Make sure your lips are tight, and that u can see you dimples. If u are trying to reach a high note. say..A...do an arpeggio. Try A major Arpeggio (Two octaves).
It will work. Also palyin aroun with high notes will give u a good range.
