I am an obost. xD I am teaching myself how to play the trumpet for marching band.

I have to learn to play in two months.
I am practicing all the time, and I'm positive that I will be able to play the trumpet well enough to be in the band within 2 months. Hey, I learned the oboe well in two months, and now that I know how to read notes, I know it shouldn't be as hard.

But it is deffinitely hard teaching yself to play, especially when I am used to woodwind instruments. My main problems are:

+I am having trouble knowing exactly which note I'm playing, or if I am playing it reletively in tune or if I'm WAY OFF.
+I believe that the tuning for a Bb trumpet it two chromatic steps down from the concert C pitch, am I right? So, an F on the trumpet would be an Eb on the tuner, and so on?
+Do I have to have the tuner set to 440 hertz, or it that wrong?

Yes, it looks like you have it.

For practicaly purposes you should use your tuner set to 440Hz (that is the basic common tuning pitch). Yes an F on the trumpet would be an Eb on the piano or tuner.

440Hz. I don't intend to be boring, pedantic, or belittle anyone, but do you know what we mean when we say 440Hz? 440Hz means 440 cycles per second. This many cycles gives you an A. 438 cycles is also an A. In colder climates we would tune to A=435 (but that's another story). When A=440, C= 523, etc. (Bb is 466 Hz).
