Ok, So I wil be attending college soon, in texas, and i want to major in music, i am a 4 year all stater in tx, and I am serious about what i need.
Ive been playing Bach Strads all my life, cornet and trumpet.

In college would a trumpet or cornet be of more use?
Although ive been used to strads, whould a yamaha xeno be any good..i prefer classical music, but ocassionaly do jazz, so a medium bore would be preferable.

I dont need any fancy doo-hickys lol just a trumpet that does its job.

So what do you guys think..my budget is preferablly under $4000

Thanks for the input.

(Plus, i wouldl ike a horn that would last quite some time)

professional level bachs and yamahas are great all-around horns. You can get them new for $2,000-$2,500.

If you have $4,000 to spend I would urge you to look at a Ken Larson Brasswerks trumpet. He custom builds a trumpet for you, and they end up being about 3500+ tax. Again, only do this if you won't feel bad about spending that kind of money, I spent a whole summers income on mine. Totally worth it.
