Hello!
Recently, I bought a trumpet on an auction here in Sweden. I payed 345 SEK (ca 53$) for it.
My main instrument is the trombone, therefore my knowledge about trumpets are very limited.
On the bell, there is a dotted inscription; "E S Nilmus". The leadpipe has the letter "H" written on it, and the second valve is marked "547 A". It hasn't got any third valve slide ring, nor a saddle on the first valve. This fact makes me believe that it's a student trumpet. Am I right?
The trumpet has some lovely patina and the brass is a little darker than on modern student instruments. I asked my trombone teacher what she thought about it, and she did think that it was made around 1950-60. Note that this was only an approximation.
The mouthpiece is oxidized and nearly black - is this a sign of any silver compounds in it?
I've googled the trumpets name and the insciptions a dozen times, but I can't find anything... Does anyone know the manufacturer "Nilmus", and is there any way for me to look up things as production year and things like that?
(Excuse my bad English - I'm from Sweden..)
Thanks in advance!
