I`m back....trumpets are the best yes I agree on that 100% since I play one.lol. Any of you ever hear of ska...a music like punk or rock with a trumpet, trombone, and sax. I am in a ska band and it`s pretty cool. The music is not hard at all but it`s fun. I think some of you would enjoy it. Check out some bands like the O.C Supertones and Five Iron Frenzy.

I play a bassoon... and a baritone. I used to play a trumpet, but I like the mellowness of the baritone and the pompousness of the bassoon. I`m not saying anything bad about trumpets in any way, but the trumpets in my band need metronomes and tuners.

trumpets are cool

Bragging Rights,

I began playing the trumpet when I was in the fourth grade. Played for teen dances in the seventh and eighth grades. Was first chair in both band and dance band in the tenth, elventh and twelveth grades. Turned down a college scholarship for music because I wanted to join the U. S. Air Force and fly jet airplanes.

Last year in order to celebrate my 71st birthday, in July 2002, I had my right lung removed due to cancer. This occured after over 50 years of heavy smoking.

I have recently taken up my trumpet playing again, after a several year absence. I seem to have plenty of air pressure with one lung, my lips give out before my breath. I do use a small amount of oxygen thank`s to Medicare, when needed. Just completed an audio CD of my handy work for my kids and a few friends.

Practice every day and plan to continue playing as long as I`m around to terrorize the neighborhood.

Hope this conveys some measure of encouragement to all that are interested in becoming an "Old Trumpeteer"

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Keith
