I`ve been playing the trumpet for 3 months, and the highest note, like both of you, is C. But on some odd days, I am able to play up to E, but I have to rest for 5 mins before I can continue on...lol

I`m in my 7th month and I could hit High G it takes time so don`t worry you will get there as long as you practice.

I know plenty of guys who practice but have never got there. It takes SMART practice, not just time crunching to make it!!! : )

There really is no "normal" range that is set. It depends on the person. We all have different range because we are all built differently. Sometimes it takes people longer than others to hit certain notes, so dont worry about it. If it really concerns you I suggest practicing pedal tones and octave slurs.

High C. Part of it was natural talent. The other part was a Bach 7E. Very small. If you HAVE to play high, try a different mouthpiece. Just remember, your tone will go to crap when you do this so use the smaller mouthpiece to get higher so your lips will get used to it. The slowly work back to what you started with. I currently use a Bach 3C. Still able to hit E`s above high C. Good luck and take your time.

hey sup. im a sophmore in highschool right now and started playin in 6th grade, so yea roughly 4 1/2- 5 years. right now i can almost hit a really high A, which is the first A above the staff if u dont know yet.
Three months after i started i could play a high F(top of staff) almost with ease. I could almost get an G but wore my lip muscles out every time i tried it and then had to wait a few minutes before doing it again. The person sitting next to me could never seem to get above a D all year.
For those of u that r just starting out and want to hit those really high notes ill tell u right now it wasnt till 8th grade that i was starting to be able to hit a high G with ease. And it wasnt till the beginning of this school year that i could even so much as attempt the really high notes without blowing my lips
this may not be the case for everyone but it was for me and lots of others i know
