I know the highest note is above triple high C.....or "Super C". I know Arturo Sandoval can hit it. But as for your high note problem....I know you must have heard this before, but use your stomach. I was taught to tense like I was preparing for a hit to the stomach......but don`t get tense by contracting you muscle.....do it by forcing the air out from that low. And remember not to shove against your mouth.....I didn`t do that with braces and I could hit a C above the staff with braces on.

I can hit a C, the one you tune to. You think you know but you have no idea.

The C you tune to is third space C in the staff, or the B or G below it, being Bb, A, and F concert tuning. I`ve got no idea what Your talking about trumpetchad

I had braces and I just got them off. I play trumpet. My orthodontist gave me one of those plastic things that wraps around your wire if you just push on it. I used it once...it messed my embouchure up. I stopped using it. Now that i don`t have braces...i actually think it was easier with braces. They allowed me to grip and get a tighter embouchure for high notes. Now that i don`t have braces, it took me quite a while to adjust. hope this helps! If you have a hard time adjusting from braces to no braces...try playing with your retainer for a bit

I heard of an African American trumpeter who learned to play the trumpet efficiently with no pressure because he had braces when he first started to play the Trumpet. He can soar in the upper register as a result. So you young guys be patient, back off the mouthpiece a bit and develop the playable range you got. (Slooooowly moving higher) (Notice I said playable range not the double high C you claim you can hit).
Remember! You`re building the lip muscles, and as a result you would be able to play higher gradually. Release the air like you`re blowing into a straw with close lips trying to make the o (starw) smaller as you go higher. Do not tense excessively, let the air through freely.
When you truly develop range it would be no guessing game, you`ll always be on target.

you think that is high, ha!    15:42 on Tuesday, December 21, 2004

Ok guys/gals! Lets get real. How many people you know pick up a basketkall and go play ball? Now, how many people you know pick up a trumpet and play music? Get my drift? The trumpet is not a walk in the park, if it was! Every tom, dick, and harry would be playing it well.

Another point! There`s only one Manyard, and one Arturo. So stop With the comparison.
All Professionals play the same way. They use the muscle in the lip the same way, but nature probably dealt most of us a different hand biologically speaking.
Considering how many trumpeters there are in the world. Then consider how many of us play like Maynard or Arturo. Even the great Miles Davis with his crisp, clear, firery delivery seldom play high.

Range either comes naturally or you have to develop it over time. There`s no guarentee, or someone would be bottle-ing it.
Clarity in range is very important. It tells you, you are doing the right things. On the contrary! Squeezing out high notes, Well! lets put it like this. You`re fooling yourself.
So while we`re facinated about playing high in the first 3 years of our Trumpet schooling, the real leaders of tomorrow are dillegently shaping a solid foundation for those high notes that will come when they mature and know how to push themselves to the extreme to get that extra result when required.

Delivery is Very important. I suggest you young cats start working on that, cause if you want respect as a trumpeter, delivery is what snatches(commands)the audience attention. You should strive for this in every note you play. When you can do this consistently! Respect comes automatically.
Remember Trumpet is the king of instruments (even with not so high notes).... See ya. Gotta go practice.

to treestand: I had braces in high school, and hit double c`s with ease. It just takes practice practice practice, and the right embouchure. In high school I used a Bundy horn with a Bach 3C.

The Trumpet outlaw can play notes on a trumpet higher than you can.
The Trumpet Outlaw is the world`s greatest trumpet player.
The Trumpet Outlaw plays the quad C baby.
The Trumpet Outlaw is the world`s most extreme trumpet player.
The highest trumpet
The Trumpet Outlaw is the king of trumpet high notes.
Who plays the worlds highest notes on a trumpet?
The Trumpet Outlaw plays the world`s highest notes on a trumpet.
The Trumpet Outlaw`s concert program now features the highest notes that have ever been played before on a trumpet. The Outlaw`s bizarre unconventional trumpet playing has the whole trumpet world in an uproar as the Outlaw Mike plays notes on a trumpet higher and louder then they have ever been played or even attempted before. The Outlaw is unafraid to bring the trumpet into an extreme range while still producing a trumpet tone and style reminiscent of pre-WW2 when "trumpet playing was a lifestyle."

The Outlaw Mike plays seven different horns all in the same song. Highlights include a special section where the Outlaw Mike plays both large and small bore piccolo trumpets. Michael also shows his talents in playing many different brass instruments as the baritone, mellophone and a flugelhorn. Now is the time to hear Michael play in the world`s most extreme trumpet range.

I`m in tenth grade and the highest note I can play is a G above the G on top of the staff. Is that bad, should I be able to hit higher notes?

hey, i`m ONLY in highschool...(got your attention yet?) and i try to make it sound like i am belittling my giant range (which i actually squeak out and you can barely hear) so that you will think that i have low self confidence even though i`m really good, but in reality i think that i`m the best and i can play sooo high and i want people to say to me "no, that`s actually really good for your age!!"

P.S. - i use more pressure than your mom
