i`d suggest the Olds Ambassador model... they are usually cheap on ebay (less than 100$) and they are good student model. You can`t go wrong for 100$...

If you`d like to buy new, the Bach student model... has always does the job good. You can look to Besson`s student model (609)... it is a good model too...

Remember that it is just a student model!

im a trumpet player and i have a yamaha that works very well, but once you buy it dont use the mouthpiece that comes with it (get him fitted for a new one). if you dont it wont make as good of a sound. i would also suggest a bach.

Can I know why you suggest a silver trumpet?

Actually, do you means a solid sterling silver trumpet (actually, normally just the bell is solid silver... and this is rare)

Do you means silver plated trumpet? (wich isn`t really a must for a student... I`m serious amateur and I don`t have a silver plated trumpet)

Or do you means, just a Silver look (lacquer)?
In that case, I see no reason why a silver laquered trumpet would be better than a golden lacquered trumpet... It is just lacquer...

Hello,

When I started playing, I bought a Jean Baptiste student trumpet for $200.

It was a very bad Trumpet, the valves got stuck all the time and I really had a hard time with it.

Then I bought a Getzen a pro one. I love my Getzen works great.

I would recommend these companies for a trumpet: Yamaha, Bach, Getzen, Monette... all of these make good quality trumpets.

Silver plated trumpets make richer sound. I would say for a beginner it won`t make a big difference for now.

You could buy one of these trumpets from Ebay for good price.

Also Ebay has these cheap trumpets for 100 bucks, I heard a lot from friends that these cheap trumpets are bad.

Godd Luck
Dave

Actually, I think three valves are easier than whatever the keys saxes have, but maybe not. More fun to play is a matter of taste. For a student, Yamaha makes one of the best student model trumpets around. Be wary of Bach, since the company has very poor quality control and many of their instruments don`t play well. Silver plating is not necessary for a begginer, or anyone else for that matter. It makes the sound a bit brighter than just brass. Brass is usually finished with lacquer, which tends to kill the sound a bit, but makes for a durable finish, which is good for a student. Lacquer is also pretty much mainanence-free. No need to polish it. The Olds Ambassador trumpets are also a great value for a student trumpet. Stay away from Amati and anything on eBay that isn`t well known. Sometimes you can get a great deal on eBay, and get a great horn for cheap.

Good luck.

what are you talking aobut Bobert? Bach trumpets are good trumpets. I strong recommand buying a Bach Students trumpet(TR 300) or Yamaha Student trumpet. Good enough for beginner.

And one more thing. Please do not buy it from Ebay.
Buy it from a normal local music store with a warrantly.
