I`m thinking of buying a new professional trumpet, huge improvement over my TR300 which my instructor is telling me is holding me back.
The trumpets im looking at are:
Getzen Eterna 900S
Bach Strad 180S
Benge X Series
Any opinions on those trumpets?

Hi,
I use Capri Getzen and I love it.
I know it`s pretty hard to choose because it`s like comparing fansy cars.
I`m speaking for Getzen, they make good quality horns.
Good Luck
Dave

Go with the Bach, The strad is the best overall value, believe me, so much will improve in your playing when you just switch the strad, its also one of the most widely used instruments in the profesinal world.

You could also look at some pro-horn that aren`t necessarly the most popular, but not the lest!
I`m talking about
Callichio (not sure of the spelling)
Wild Thing
Eclipse (see www.eclipsetrumpets.com)
Some good oldies sur as the Olds (Recording, Mendez or Opera moedel)
I have for my self a Olds Recording that is a really good pro horn, I`ll have it restaured to its originale condition ( and even better) this summer. Really a great horn, less boring to play than a bach.
Bach are good horn, but boring to play!

How much do these horns usually cost? I want to get a new trumpet for college but I`m not sure which one to get. Depends on quality and cost.

If you get a Bach, make sure you test play instruments until you find one you like. If you don`t like it, don`t get it, because you will regret it later. You might also want to look at the new Yamaha Xeno line. These are very nice, and comparable to Bachs, though considerably more consistent. Some of the horns mentioned here are more custom horns than standard pro models, such as the Wild Thing, Callicchio, Eclipse, Stomvi, etc. These are all great horns, if you find one that suits your style. And if you want, you can go even more expensive, with Taylor, Courtois, and Monette. But for a standard pro model, things to look at are Yamaha, Bach, Conn, Kanstul, King, Getzen and some others. Make sure you buy something you like, because if you get something because of a name, you will be dissapointed later.

The wild thing is lots of fun.
The guy who plays split lead in my band has one, it`s pretty amazing the volume he can get out of that vs his other trumpet.
