I have a Holton Student edition. getting ready to get a new horn. I use a 10\2 c, 3c, and 7c mouthpieces. I am going to get into jazz so i will also be getting a Shilke 14A4A.

I used to have a Severinson model getzen, (not the newer 300I model) and I absolutely loved the big band sound I got from it. I`m looking for somthing similar (since I sold it a few years back) but I want something a little more orchestral now but I`m not sure if I should go with another getzen eterna (700), the 300I or maybe consider a bach or somthing else. . .any ideas?

I`d appreciate any suggestions especially from semi-prof.-prof. players (i.e. out of high school)

i pla semi professionally with a jazz group called madison jazz and if you want some thing nice and orchestral i would suggest an older trumpet. if you want a bach it has got to be an older one. there is something about the newer ones that just isn`t right. i would suggest something made in elkhart wisconsin in like 1929. make sure that everything is right with it before you buy it though. i have a getzen 900 and i prefer it to the 700 but i also like the limited edition doc severinsen getzen a lot. very nice horns. Xeno`s are nice but they are pretty expensive and they have a reputation for messing up valves. i really like the getzen if you want to know what i like the most. definitely my favorite

I have a Getzen Severinsen ML and LB, both from the mid 70s in great shape. I loved the way they played till I came across a Getzen eterna 900 LB. It blows more openly then the severinsen model. I passed it around to the rest of the section and they all agreed..anyone know if the 900s were made to blow more freely then the docs? Also I am thinking about a Schilke B1l or 2L..got no way to try it before I buy it, would have to sell my other horns firs. Dose anyone know how they (schilke) blow? thanks in advance...Spotty
