I know a few Multi-instrumentalists that can play a great trumpet, and a good sax. James Morrison (Aussie Jazz muso) is one that comes to mind.
I don`t know of a Great Sax player who also plays great trumpet. There will probably many replies to that comment, but I would be keen to know the names.
I would speak to your sax music teacher first. If he says OK, then probably try a few lessons for beginners. Even open playing for bugle will develop the embrouchure for trumpet.

I would say go for it if you haven`t already. I started playing flute first. I was 2nd chair. After a few years of flute, I switched over to trumpet. I am better a better trumpet player than flute, and I taught myself both instruments. Good Luck

Well, I think the trumpet rocks anyone should play it. Even if you play another instrument. Because I been playing trumpet for 2 years and going on three. It rocks!!! So, anyone should play the trumpet if they want!
