Hey people. I`m just gonna` tell you about national competition in Orlando. The middle school band that i`m in went to national competition. The first thing we competed in was concert band competition. We played 2 songs(Beyond the Higher Skies and Spirit of the Falcon)next the jazz band that i play lead trumpet in played 3 songs(Walkin` with Jackie, Swing Machine, Hit and Run)We had a three hour break after jazz band and then we had marching competition. A thunder storm started up so the judges pulled us and 4 other schools off of our busses and had us march on a completely different course on the side of the road. our school had the woodwinds march with us but they didn`t play and our flag team had to make up a new routine because the original routine was to complicated to do in the rain. The high schools that were there marched with woodwinds and they played about half of our volume. well anyways, the next day at the awards cereomony, we got first place in our division in every caterogory we competed in and we got best drum majors, flags, and we got the grand champion sweepstakes award because we beat every high schools score in every competition and we got a superior rating in concert music and jazz music. that was awesome. the next day after awards, we played on a stage in disney world after 9 songs i still nailed an E above the staff. the day after that my jazz band played in cosmic ray`s on a rising stage(i almost fainted because it was so hot),and on our last day there the jazz band played in Citiwlak outside of Universal studios, I nailed a double A in our last song. It was a lot of fun. Did anyone else go to musicfest orlando any year? If you did, write about it. I would like to hear about your experiences
