Carnival of Venice is a tough piece. I`m learning it right now. Then again, I have kind of slacked off on my multiple tonguing recently, which is crucial for that piece. Now, at these schools where all of the kids can play it with few errors, 1) are you sure you`re taking it at correct tempo? and 2) if you are, where is your school? Because I want to go there. Anyway, that`s just what I think. There are people that can play it close to perfectly out there and anyone that can play it posseses a good deal of talent.

Every second cornet/trumpet player can play it! Its like a 100 years old and brass playing has evolved heaps in that time. Nothing to brag about. If this was 1904 i might be impressed.

I noted a request for a recording of the Carnival of Venice. I`m sorry that I cannot help but I served in US Army bands for 20 years. While serving in the 1st Cavalry Division Band around 1975-78, a trumpet player named Herman Martinez played an LP record of which one track was the Carnival of Venice in continuous 16th notes and using circular breathing techniques. I would like a copy of that recording. The performer`s name might have been Carlos Mendez.

For me the toughest part is the low G`s and A`s jumping to the C`s on the staff. I`m having trouble getting them to come out cleanly. Any advice?

i would recommend practicing intervals, starting on p. 125 of the arban book. play each exercise in #1 till every note sounds clean. exercise #2 is good too. you shouldnt really need to go past those; 1&2 build the skills you need for CoV

it`s actually kind of easy to play. just put all you`ve got into it. it`s marked andante in 6/8. it`s really cool sounding. everything seems to be getting easy to me. does anybody know where i can find some cool sounding hard songs. if anybody sends me one i can get it right and then post it on the internet for fun listening. thx

good job... perfessional... that would require a University degree/Major... clearly at 15 YOU CAN`T BE PRO!!!... but keep dreaming... what`s your website? I wanna see this mighty fine miarcle in the making... at 15 I was playing with professional groups, but I don`t consider myself a pro... so think of re-titeling yourself... just to decrease some of the embarassment upon yourself. thank you
