Back in the `80`s, I had a tape of possibly the best trumpet soloist I`ve ever heard! The problem is I don`t remember the trumpet players name. The one song I`m trying to remember is one where he is triple-tonguing so fast that it sounds as if three of four trumpets are playing simultaneously (I though the name of the song is Fire Dance). Any the range that is played is out of this world. I know these hints are about as vague as possible but if anyone know who I`m talking about please leave a response to this post.

Thanks,
Paul

Rafael Mendez was a great player at that time. He played in a lot of movies. I had a record back in the `60s. Arizonia State has a Music Library in his name and sell CD`s. Well worth the 15 bucks. See the site at

The trumpet player you`re talking about is Allen Vizzutti from when he guest soloed on a Woody Herman album on the song Fire Dance. Allen has several solo albums and used to play with Chick Corea a lot in the 70s I think.
