Do you mean you want to make your own horn from metal pipes, and add a funnel to the end to get a French horn sound?
Are you after a sound like an Alpine Horn?
Are you wanting to make your own horn, and play it with a mouthpiece?
Not sure exactly what you are after...

I also am working on a musical instrument with intentionsof it to sound like a tuba. I took 5 feet of thin wall pvc pipe and put a elbow on the bottom and cut out the bottom of a plastic flower vase about a foot tall and has a 10 inch top opening. On the top end I put reducers untill I got to the point where I ended with a screw in plug. Now If I can only get my hands on a old tuba mouth piece and get it all going. I also painted it shiney black. thank you, Irv ps. the vase is plastic and I used epoxy glue to mount it to the elbow.

Here is a tip.
6 feet of normal garden hose, and a french horn mouthpiece. You try it.
