Well, not sure if your doing this or not, but really try doing a good warm-up, and most importanty a warm-down with pedal tones, even when your chops are shot. Make sure your not putting to much pressure on your lips when you play, you shouldnt be shoving the mouthpiece against your lips. Also flapping your lips in between playing(no mouthpiece, just pushing air out and letting your lips flap, hopefully you get the picture....) Also don`t be stupid with trying to play in the upper register, I`ve been around long enough to see idiots trying to be cool and blowing their chops in the process. I`m not sure where your at in terms of experience but I`ve been playing for 10+ years and I do all these things and can play for hours. Hope this helps.

Buble,

Flight386 has a good point with the warmup - it`s one of the most important things you can do for your playing. It`s not that you can`t pick the horn up and start honkin` through - you need to have time for your mind to get into the game. Your body doesn`t need a warmup, it`s your mind, and without the warmup, your mind will often do things wrong right up front, therefore killing yourself quicker. A good daily routine lain out by a wise private teacher can help your day-to-day playing 1000%, and really help you learn to pace yourself.

Good luck and check out Selmer.com`s "The Trumpet Corner" where Dr. Sievers offers really sound advice.

thanks guys
i do warm up..and also i realise that when i practise (home practice)i do it all right, but when i have band and lessons, i have to get it right..no what i mean? it`s like..the notes arent that high so im ok at the beginning but by the end im so tired n then they seem so high so im just relying 100% on mp pressure i think so i get the notes especially that happens in lessons coz its one on one.

and um..i dont no what pedal tones are..lol are they long notes or ??

Bubles -

Pedals for the trumpet are the notes below our low F#. There are specific theories behind the use of pedals (Stamp, Caruso, Irons, ect...) and I don`t suggest you try playing pedals without the direct guidance of a teacher. It can really mess you up - moreso then playing high stuff incorrectly.

As for the endurance, there really is nothing that can be done other then continuing the playing. You`re running into what we all do: an endurance/range issue. The ONLY way to fix it (without doing ridiculous isometric excercises) is to keep your mind musically oriented. That means, put everything in a musical context and envision what you want to sound like, by hearing it in your head before playing it.
Another thing that might help is not playing so loud. Lead players have this complex where they think they have to play really loud all of the time to be heard. That simply isn`t true. If you`re playing the high stuff, you`ll be heard. Period. Don`t try to force it and it`ll all work out fine - it just takes time. Give yourself some.

Cheers!
Aaron
