I`m a trumpet beginner and I`ve thick lips. Somebody told me that a person have thin lips play trumpet better than who have thick lips? A thick lips guy better plays other instruments such as euphonium, baritone or tuba.
Do you think it is correct? Can it overcome by more practicing?

If your lips are abnormally thick, then you may need a slightly different mouthpiece to start with. Bach 7C is pretty well the standard and most used, but there are mouthpieces designed for thick lips.
It should not hinder you from being a great player. There are thick lip players around.

I am not saying this is the answer, but go to a good brass store, and try a Bach 7EW mouthpiece, and a Bach 11EW.
Obviously take your own horn and mouthpiece to see if there`s a diff. Don`t spend all your life fooling around with mouthpieces, find the one that`s right or near right and let your brain do the rest with plenty of playing and listening. Don`t worry about the lips..

A guy I use to play with had "thick lips". He was phenominal!
He is the only guy I ever knew that could play a Super-C on a 1-1/4 C (Bach) Mouthpiece.
You just need to find the right mouthpiece for you.
