When im not playing and havemt played for a day or so, ppl ask me if i just got done playing cuz theres a permanent ring on my lips. Its white but not THAT noticeable unless ur looking for it, then its really noticable. Is that bad? Does that mean i have damaged lips or sumthin? The only things i could think of is 1) it could b a suntan line from being out in the sun for band practices 3 times a week for 4 yrs or 2) from pressure playing. I think its most likely the 2nd choice but im trying to fix that. If ne one else has this problem or knows ne thing about it, it would b greatly appreciated,

I think you`re fine. As long as you can still articulate fine, ..and talk.

If you look closely at Wynton Marsalis, you will notice that he has a ring on his lips too all the time.
So I guess it`s not a problem.

I have the same thing and it`s sort of a discoloration of the lips from the metal of your mouthpiece.

It can also be from pushing the instrument into your lips when you are trying to hit the high notes but I`m going to assume you do not do that nasty habit.

its not how bad it looks, the thing that matters is how do you avoid trumpet lip marks,i have that problem years ago but its gone now.practice to play without using too much force in the mouthpiece, concentrate on flexibility studies, less pressure means longer and quality good sound.
