well to us young people in highschool bands playing high is like our all time goal. but i worked on my long tones articulation. swells scales and lip slur for about two years. i made all state band in all of my fours years off highschool and with all taht work i juss played a song and took it up right in band class. and now that i switched to a 14a4a i can hit an hold the super c for a full eight counts with a full brassy but warm tone where it can be heard acroos the field and down the street and cut threw the band.

Look i am 13 and can play high Bb for 9 counts. I worked on range for 2 years and then took 1 year for other more important stuff. It takes a while for range and kids who screach out a note and look like they are about to have an anuerism is not high range. If you cant get range work on articulation, style, and tone quality. THose will get you first chair. And on your free time go ahead and learn some cool tricks. I can play a good horse whiney and played at the end of jingle bells once it sounded cool. Remeber range isnt everything.

Trumpet playing is not based on how high you can play. There are some freshman screamers at my school, but theyre in the freshman band bcuz theyre sound isnt developed and they cant read well. I can Barely hit an A a lil above the staff, but im the second chair in the highest band. If you`re in marching band, its a little better because you want to have the people hear you. You still have to get the rhythms right.
grr stupid freshman.

I get what you`re saying. I`m a 14 year-old freshman trumpet player and I personally find high notes unimportant compared to your musical vocab. I am considered good in my school because I play pieces like The Hummel, Concert Etude, and The Hayden.....not because of the notes I can hit

To be a great trumpet player u need the whole package (not just wayne bergeron and mark zauss stuff) !!! otherwise some people will always b better then you at something. Im 9th grade and i CAN play a high "g" for as many counts as i can hold any note. Playing high notes is great to show off with but making first chair all county and making all state is what WILL get you 2 the superbowl...

its just annoying.

Dr.Michael E. Schmidt has taught me how to play high notes on a trumpet.
Dr. Michael E. Schmidt`s new concert program features the highest notes that have ever been played on a trumpet. Michael`s bizarre unconventional trumpet playing has the whole trumpet world in an uproar as Michael plays notes on a trumpet higher then they have ever been played or even attempted before. Michael is unafraid to bring the trumpet into an extreme range where it has never been before. This will be the first time that Michael has ever ministered before in public with his new dynamic range 9 minute long worship song called "Holy is the Lord". With Michael`s new song {Holy is the Lord} you will see Michael play the Lord`s Horns with a new, exciting and refreshing level of worship like he has never done before. Michael worships and gives praise to the Lord Jesus Christ with seven different horns all in the same song. Highlights of {Holy is the Lord} include a special section where Michael plays small and large bore piccolo trumpets. Michael also shows his talents to play many different brass instruments as he plays a baritone horn for the first time. For those of you who have been waiting to hear Michael play some of the highest notes that have ever been played before on a trumpet, now is a chance to hear Michael play in the world`s most extreme trumpet range. To schedule Michael to minister to your church or civic event call: 423-507-9970.
