I recently borrowed an Amati Kraslice ATR-213 trumpet home from my band.

The trumpet was used for 1 year in Marching band... but the trumpet is in terrible condition...

There are spots all over... i mean real spots, that can`t be polished off.... and the tuning slide is stuck...

Are Amati Trumpets suitable for marching or were they made NOT to march? if they are not suitable for marching, then i`ll take all the amati`s trumpets off the marching section and only allow them to be used in concert.

besides, how do i restore it? the spots are almost as if the silver coating is gone already.. and it doesn`t shine when polished anymore...

I recently read a review of some amati trumpets, and the reviewer said that after the marching season he would retire that trumpet...if it was still in one piece. I`ve never used, or seen one so I can`t tell you for sure.

They aren`t suitable for marching. Of course, they aren`t suitable for playing in an indoor ensemble either. I would recommend that you build some lamps with the trumpets. That is where they can truly be used with a good outcome. Next time, your school should get Yamahas.

seriously speaking, isn`t Amati a rather well-known trumpet manufacturer company? i heard that they also make Saxophones...

Amati has been making brass instruments for more then a century and happen to be considered very good instruments. I suppose if you happen to have one that`s been used or abused like any instrument it will not perform well. Amati makes a full line of instruments - from tubas to saxophones and in all price ranges and quality. Another words you get what you pay for. I will say that Yamaha certainly makes a good horn with lots of advertising however Amati was making brass instruments in Europe when Yamaha was still only making motorcycles.
