Hey guys i want a light, bright sounding silver trumpet i can use that will give me a bright fat sound. I am from Canada and i have access to all teh brands, but i was wondering what do you think will be my best bet for this sort of trumpet, i was thinking the Bach 180 series LT, or the Monette 2000LT. But i dont know what will be best, and more affordable. Whats the price range for a great silver light bright trumpet. Thanks guys

i need a solid trumpet for SKA, what is the prince range for most really decent Trumpets... i am in Canada too, so if you could tell me the demonination it would be awesome lol

so this Getzen is a good horn? most Ska players use a Bach, but i guess its because Bach Leads the market.

Go to music123.com and read the reviews of the 900s versus the bach. Bach is a good horn (really really good horn), but the getzen is a dream.

oh and price range, mine retailed for $1900, but I got an open-box (the shipping box was damaged, the horn was fine but they opened it to check). I got around a $1000 off. music123.com has great deals on this sort of thing. Not sure what this would all be with canadian exchange.

You can probably get a good horn for any type of music for between $1300 and $2000 American. I would recommend the Monette, but that one will cost something like $6500. However, if you have it extra money laying around...

Yeah, Monette`s absolutely awesome, I use a monette mouthpiece, and if I had enough money I`d buy a trumpet. Maynard, Arturo, Schlueter, Wynton, they all use Monette. However, most monette`s are bery heavy weight, and if you want a real lightweight, I suggest a Stomvi trumpet. They`re spanish made, and a lot of latin players use them for really high bright stuff. The mambo-titanium is sweet, I almost bought one myself, except I don`t have any use for a trumpet like that.

Monette has recently been producing a lightweight lead and jazz trumpet, so not all Monettes are heavy, though that is what they are known for.

Who thinks that Maynard will keep playing his Holtons now that he has a Monette? My guess is he will, and he just bought the Monette to be as cool as his lead player (Patrick Hession). Any thoughts?
