I agree that bach strads are the way to go.wwbw.com has strads for as low as 1200 an eBay has them for much less. I would go with the bach strad 43 with a mL bore for a nice dark sound.

Is all this discussion about equipment really necessary? I am a firm believer in playing on what works for you. If you sound better with less effort, you are moving in the right direction, regardless if you are on a $10,000 Monette or a $500 Bundy. Listent to the sound you are making, play with lots of air, and make music out of whatever it is you are playing. Everyone will tell you his or her opinion as if it is fact. YOU must be the judge.

That`s my 2 cents.

Well man i use a 1 1/2C an itz pretty damn good.Im also the section leader of my trumpet section. In my band we dont use 7Cz kuz we`re not really a jazzy band. We`re more on the classical/contemporary band. But i urge my section 2 use 3Cz.

About the new trumpet.Man there`z lik a few on my list that u should kinda get.
Getzen Etrena ll
Bach Stratavarious
Yamaha Allegro
Yamaha Xeno

I strongly prefer u use a bach.kuz those guyz r lik the most reliable trumpets.Or u can go for the yamaha if u wanna have a nice solid tone. The getzen is . . . .okish to me.Kuz i dont lik getzens

you people are giving some of the worst equipment advice ever giving.
First of all, how can you tell her what to use without hearing her? If you are in middle school, which must of you sound like you are, don`t give advise. If you do not know what you are talking about do not spread your ignorance. I suggest you ask these same questions in trumpetherald.com and you`ll get way better answers.

Hey Mandy,
I played a 7C all through middle school and HS. It wasn`t until College and I was playing 3 and 4 hour dance jobs that I switch to a bigger piece (1 1/2C) The fact that you are section leader means that you are doing something right and the 5C must be working pretty good for you. When you change to a bigger piece (at least with me) it will work OK for a few days and then everything will sort of fall apart. This is because your embouchure has to rebuild itself to the new piece. This can take a few months. Will your embouchure be stronger and your tone/range be better after the adjustment? Maybe yes and Maybe no. I`m not telling you not to switch, I`m just telling what usually happens to a trumpet player when they change mp. As for a new horn? I played the same Olds Ambassador through grade-middle-high School and my freshman year of college. However, a new horn often gives a young player the incentive to practice more. The standard of all pro-level horns is the Bach Stradivarious and the most common with ML bore and a 37 bell. I would venture a guess that there are more of these horns sold each year than all other pro-level horns combined. However, I compared the Strad with the Yamaha Xeno and I bought the Xeno. I didn`t have any of the other horns mentioned to compare with or I might have gotten something else. What I am saying is to take a few during spring break, call around and find out what is available and make the rounds and try some horns. Buy the one that YOU like the best.

Why does everyone think I`m in middle school.FYI the middle school I went to was Challenger in San Diego,CA . . .yeah the one named after the ship that blew up. We had a VERY crappy band.

Now I`m in high school so I know my stuff.Frick man.Don`t you understand my username? MMHS gives it away quite well. You guys must be idiots if MMHS sounds like a middle school.Jeez its Mira Mesa High School in SD,CA.

bach strads are inconsistent and i have a lot against them. Getzen makes good horns, mainly for jazz playing because they are geneerally bright... conn 38B is a very good concert band horn, Yamaha Xeno is usually pretty good but sometimes give a duller tone than usual, Stomvi Mambo Titanium is a good choice usually.

whoah MMHS trumpet player i`m calling you out. You said Bach`s are reliable!!!!!!!! WTF?!?!?!?! Bach`s are known by every real trumpet player to be unreliable because the new Bach`s are so inconsistent with manufacture. 7c produces a jazzy tone? bull. I know all of the Chicago Symphany plays mount Vernon Bach 7c`s. I play a 1B for jazz and a Jet Tone SS for lead. a 1B is about your size rim but about 2 millimeters deeper. Everybody plays different mouthpieces and gets different sounds on them. So to say that a 7c produces a jazz tone is just flat ignorant. In fact many people are so used to playing shallow pieces that they are considered toilet bowls to some jazz players. I`ve seen a lot of bull you`ve written around here and I haven`t said much but when you get into equipment like that you`re just flat out wrong. Now you`re going to be like i`m a junior/ section leader so that means i know everything... well i`m a sophomore and i`ve been playing with pro bands and teaching students for 3 years now. I have more experience than you so I suggest you don`t embarass yourself and try to argue equipment with me... i`ve also been working in a shop that does repairs for a year and a half. Man that was stupid!

ok here`s one thing about my band. One we dont play jazz pieces. It would be cool though.but all we do is play nothing but classical/contemporary songs.Thatz the reason why I recomend mpcs and Bachs. So step off just because I dont play jazzy songs or anything cool related.

Hey has anyone recomneded monette mpcs yet? This guy at my church uses one.

exactly mmhs... and i said bach`s can be used for jazz and for classical. a 7c can be used by my friend matt as a lead trumpet jazz mouthpiece and by brad as his symphonic mouthpiece.

oh yeah... and bach`s trumpets aren`t reliable for any style of music because the manufacture is son inconsistent.. if you want a good legit horn that`s consistently good, go with a xeno, or a conn 38B. Heck schilke`s make good symphonic trumpets, and so does a Stomvi Elite. But Bach trumpets suck.

crap one more thing... Kanstul makes good horns for people that march. They`ve got huge .472 bores and you can really put the air through them and still get a big fat sound or a bright screaming sound. i think that`s it for now
