Well, to make a mildly sexist comment which also contains a nice sweeping generalization, it could just be that they don`t want to hang around with the bunch of egotistical screw-offs that we can collectively be.

Think about it, how many times have you been up to no good in rehersal? Me? I`m usually neck deep in it

It really shouldn`t come down to genders when it comes to playing. In my high school band we have about 16 trumpets, three which are girls. All three are first chair, and just so happen to be the most attentive. That`s not the point though; Just because you`re a male/female doesn`t mean you should be expected to act a certain way as a trumpet player. It all comes down to how good you play, and how interested you are in music. I`ve seen female trumpet players show off less than the guys in Jazz band, but I`ve also seen ones struggle. It shouldn`t matter what gender you are - You can still either blow people away with your playing, or just not be quite cut out for the trumpet.

people who said one gender is better than the other, please don`t say that. gender wars are lame.

Girles Make Good Trumpet Players,
They just move on to other hobbies rather quick.
I am in Marching Band and am glorified every day,but
there`s this girl that is alot betterthan me, but
she`s leaving the band claiming that it`s too boring.

Hi. I am an Australian trombone player who is possibly a trumpeter caught in a trombonists' body. In my experience, I have never met a bird (female) trumpeter who dominates in playing. Whether it's classical or jazz (or lead). I've met heaps of wonderfully, beautiful players, but none of them has ever really shown any desire to push past the norm. Are there anyone? Especially in Aus?

hey,
im a pro trumpet player from aus.
over the yrs i have been playing both pro and for a hobby i have found just as many female trumpet players as males. however a lot of the female players have a brain and want to earn good money and work normal office hrs. there are some very fine trumpet players out there no1 can say that males are better than females because that is not true. but then again im also 1 who believes that every1 can learn something from another player and i try to learn things off every1 i come across. when i was at uni there was this 1 female trumpet player i rember very well who was and most probably still is AMAZING everything bout her performances was just great and her attitude was awsome she was the coolest chick to hang with. and thats probably what i learnt from her the most. being a pro aint just bout how well u can play the horn!!!!!! its bout how well u get along with ppl and when the pressure's on u nail it.

wowz0r so many things wrong with that paragraph i donno whare to start :S

10 trumpets in out band and 4 are girls. ones really good the other 3 are lazy and dont even wanna be there. i sit next to the best trumpet player our school has ever seen and hes male. he tried to teach the girls but they dont listen. he taught me the same things and i have become third best trumpet player as a 10th grader in highschool band. i think its a matter of wanting to play and wanting to learn and increase your abilities.
