I`ve seen many people that use attatchments on the bell that changes the sound, yes, infact it changes the sound so it sounds a bit reed-ish. I guess if there was a trumpet reed for a mouthpiece, I guess it`d do the same effect. This is a very, very, interesting thread.

There was a pic somewhere one this forum, but I think it died out. It was an excellent example. The reed looks sortof like a short oboe reed, and usually, goes into the mouthpiece. But sometimes you can just put it in normal, and it`ll work. I find it hard to believe that a trumpet reed is hard to find.

The trumpet could be considered a double-reed instrument with the lips of the player being the reeds.
Also, there are such things as trumpet reeds used in pipe organs in order to allow air to simulate a trumpet effect.

A reed in a woodwind is the thing that causes vibration.. so shouldn`t a trumpet be more like an oboe, with TWO reeds, which are your lips buzzing together?

NO YOUR LIPS ARE NOT A DOUBLE REED. UNLESS YOU PAY $15 EVERY MONTH OR SO TO REPLACE YOUR LIPS THEN THEY ARE NOT REEDS. ITS NOT THAT FUKCIN COMPLICATED
