What would the best mouthpiece be for a rich, dark, beautiful sound?
Im looking at storks as well as megatones and jet tones. It`s safe to say i have no idea what I`m doing; I need some help.

I`m going by word of mouth and by having read many different sources when I say that Monette mouthpieces are the best. Their price sure tries to convince you of that. I`m also saying that after having heard a few different trumpeters play on them, including Wynton Marsalis.

You should also develop a thick, full sound just by practicing to do so. This quote is from Wynton:
"Try to get the biggest sound with the least volume on one note and hold it for 60 seconds. It`s very hard and takes a lot of concentration. it`s also very boring. But if you do it every morning for three years you`ll be the best trumpet player. It`ll take you a year to get it, but you`ll get it."

I play Monette Prana B1-5M series pieces and i would recommend them IF you play with correct body use and air support, DO NOT buy a monette piece if you are not an efficient player they will do you little good but if you are they are the absolute best pieces out there i have played them on C`s Picc`s Cornets and my Bb`s since i was in the 8th grade

I been through phases, or moods, but each mouthpiece has it`s own personality, BUT, with the `my` basic sound at the core.
I primarily play a Denis Wick 1CW(gold), Then A monette b1-5 or B2... I find I have little more resonace with the Wick , as it`s a lighter MP(i`m guessing.. i didn`t pay much attention in physics).
I used to play on a giardinelli 3V flat rim with screw rim... can`t find them anymore. The Wick is the closest one to it.
An earlier post referenced the real deal.... Focused, diligent practice with proper air support and mental approach will improve your sound whatever mouthpiece you play. Try a few and play what feels right for you.

Just last night I got my new Parduba double cup James model *5* and must say, it r0xxorz. My tone has a nice jazzy edge to it now. I can see what Harry James saw in it now. It`s very nice.

I play a Bach 1-1/4C (big letters series) with a JK Klier 4 screw-rim on it. It sounds really nice and it gives me great tone brillance and the rim is much more comfortable than the original Bach`s.
