Hey all,

I know my instrument the trumpet but I don`t know a lot about guitars.

Trumpet scale is CDEFGABC

Guitar is EADGBE ?? it doesn`t have C or F?

and is guitar music played with Chords ONLY meaning several notes at once or you could play music with single notes like on a trumpet?

Any info on diffrence between Trumpet or Guitar would help.

Still love my trumpet. I just want to understand Guitar because I want to be able to play with friends who play guitars!

Thanks
Dave

Uh those are just notes to the strings dude. The little lines on a guitar called frets when you apply pressure in between them it will change the pitch of the string therefore changing the note. So for example if you took the highest string which you know as E and placed your finger inbetween the first fret it will change the pitch up on half step or an F! So pretty much as you move up on the frets its like going chromatically on a piano or any instrument. BTW, skipping two frets would be a whole note so from E to F# inbetween the third fret. Now remember if the guitar is not tuned to 440 its going to be off and sound bad when you play the same note so make sure that the E on a guitar is an E on piano or tuner. A guitar should be in the key of C but that doesnt mean you cant change it like tuning the E on a guitar to a trumpets E. That should change the key on the guitar. Hopefully you know how to tune a guitar because im not going to explain that, im not that much of a guitar player. Uh, thats pretty much all i know.

Thanx for the info really helpful.

So a trumpet and a guitar could be played together without any transposing or transposing is needed?

Thanks
