Hi Alex,
I play clarinet and alto sax. Last year, my son started trumpet so I thought I`d teach myself at the same time.
The trumpet is MUCH harder to start than the clarinet and sax, but so much fun!! Because of the range, you`re more limited in what you can play than with the clarinet/sax, but there`s so much written for the trumpet that you probably won`t care.
Remember that once you`ve learned the basics, you`ll be able to play the cornet and flugelhorn as well, so there will always be bands or orchestras ready to welcome you.
Don`t let anyone scare you with tales of embouchure problems. I actually find playing the trumpet and clarinet/sax as a sort of gym workout and exercising different lip muscles seems to help!
Good luck,
Steve

Limited? Not really, you can get yourself to play pedal tones and also way above the high C. It takes practice but after a while you can get there. And people like your playing more when you can play really high stuff. Like in band when you knock everything up an octave and it`s already playing at high G.
