My band director just asked me to play in the school pit orchestra for our spring musical (Cabaret). She asked me because one of the parts requires a musician who plays the bass clarinet, soprano clarinet, bari sax, and bassoon. There are two bassoonists in the school. I`m one, and the other only plays the bassoon. Should I do it? I have played bassoon for 4 months (taught myself!), sop. clarinet for two years, bari sax for three, and never even picked up a bass clarinet. Do you think it will be too hard for me?

Hi Jimmy, I played in two of my schools productions (Kiss Me, Kate-Flute 2,Piccolo and Carousel-Clarinet 3) and it was one of the best experiences I have ever done in my musical carreer! Some of the music was challenging (especcialy the Carousel music) but with a little practice it was doable. Just do it, you won`t regret!
