Conversion is easy if you know both bass and treble clef. Main thing is, the playable range of the instruments you are converting for. You don't want to convert literally and have something that's too high or too low for the particular instrument to play. You can find out what range the instrument has that you want to convert for, on the web. There are a few sites, and maybe even one in this 8notes site, which give ranges of different instruments.
