The Cambridge Summer Music Festival has my support, not just because it promotes concerts in some of the most historic chapels and halls in the University colleges of Cambridge, but because of its commitment to commissioning new works and giving platforms to promising young artists.

They've also come up with an enterprising and enjoyable way to raise funds, through organising a 'no show' concert to (not) be performed by the largest orchestra in the world. I've 'joined', selecting my preferred instrument and choice of composition for inclusion in the programme, and now have a very nice concert poster promoting my composition to amuse colleagues at work. All fun and strictly tongue in cheek, but all in aid of a very good musical cause.

The site is www.cambridgenoshowprom.co.uk

I reckon it's worth supporting, not just for the fun I had on the site, but in the knowledge that I've helped a festival that is there to help artists and their work achieve recognition.
