I just read this article interviewing Xfactor's vocal coach (he's worked with 1D, Sam Smith, Jessie J).

At the end he says that raw talent isn't enough to realise the potential of your voice. You need to get into the psychology of performing. What do you think?

This is my opinion. I think that is a true statement. I can use myself as an example. I've been playing the violin for about 3 years now. Must people who hear me play are quick to label me as a prodigy. That's pretty unrealistic, though I would like to be one. We have all been given our talents and gifts from God. This means no one can pick an instrument and start playing classic to pop in 10 nanoseconds. It DOES take talent. But it also requires effort, dedication, passion, and a serious grind in order to enhance and sharpen your natural abilities.
