Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone can help me to find the sheet music of Cossack Patrol by Ivan Rebroff for voice and piano (in the original Russian lyrics but with English pronounciation approximations if possible). I`ve looked in some online stores but no luck. Does anyone know where I could find it please? I`m not sure if a sheet music version actually exists but it`s worth a try.

As am I... The lyrics in particular.

If either of you come across them, could you please email them to me re: Cossack Patrol?

Thank you very much in advance.

Hi all,

I also started looking for the sheet music for this when I came across your request. I didn`t find the Rebroff version with lyrics. but there are two copies of the sheet music listed for sale on the internet. The first is a full band arrangement available from
Da Capo Music
112A Glebe Point Road
Glebe NSW Australia 2037
Phone +61 2 9660 1825
Fax + 61 2 9660 1268
music@dacapo.com.au
Price is AUD$25 + pack and post.
The second is available from the Sheet Music Warehouse in the UK at a cost of 7 pounds UK. http://www.sheetmusicwarehouse.co.uk/20th_Century_t.html

Apparently this melody was taken from Cavalry of the Steppes, by Lev Knipper (1898-1974). There is a MIDI version available at
http://www.classicalmidiconnection.com/cmc/twenty.html

Hope this is of some help.

Thanks for your help everyone, sorry I haven`t replied for a while. I still haven`t managed to find the lyrics anywhere on the web unfortunately; I suppose the sites most likely to have them are Russian ones, it might be difficult to portray the pronounciation in English characters.

I`m also trying to find sheet music/midi, the CMC link is dead. cmc.com seems to be not up
that last link is ok, since it has the vocal notes, but i`m trying to find the whole load. :\

I am Looking for the Mp3, I love this song. I DID FIND THE LYRICS AND SOME OF THE SHEET MUSIC!
THEY ARE:

Polyushko, polye,
polyushko shiroko, polye ...
Yedut, ey, po polyu gyeroyi,
ey, da ruskoi armiyi gyeroyi.
Field, my field
my wide field ...
There the heroes ride, hey, over the field,
hey, the heroes of the Russian army.
Dyevushki platshut,
dyevushkam sivodnya grustno:
Milı da v armiyu uyekhal,
ey, da milı v armiyu uyekhal.
The girls are crying,
the girls are sorrowful today:
Their darling went away to the army,
hey, their darling went away to the army.
Dyevushki, gliantye,
dyevushki, utritye slyozı!
Pust` po silnyeye grianyem pyesnyu,
ey, da nasha pyesnya boyevaya.
You girls, look here,
girls, wipe off your tears!
The louder let us sing our song,
hey, our pugnacious song.
Tol`ko mı vidyim,
vidyim mı syeduyu tutshu:
Vrazhya da sila iz za lyesa,
ey, da vrazhya sila slovno tutsha.
We only see
a grey cloud:
The army of the enemy behind the forest
hey, the enemy`s army like a cloud.

Words and music from the Russian civil war, 1918-1922
Pronunciation:
a as in "bar", e as in "bed", i as in "bid", o as in "bore", u as in "blue"
y = as in "yellow" / ı = dull i, as in "bill"
s = always voiceless, as in "son" / z = voiced, as in "zone"
sh = voiceless, as in "mesh" / zh = voiced, like the s in "measure"
kh = mostly rough, like the ch in Scotch "loch", but smooth when "e" or "i" follows
a, e, i, o, u, y = the underlined vowel signifies the stressed syllable of a word.
Arrangement for balalaika, musical notation, transcription and analogous translation: Kai Kracht

The Joel Veitch site ROCKS ! ! !

And so does the Cossack Patrol. Hopefully I can make a good arrangement for this song!
