I`m going to be playing lead next year. Anyone have any tips for good jazz-style lead playing?

listen to dick shearer. you can find him on a lot of stan kenton records. the guy swings and lays it fat. also i would check out andy martin playin lead in gordon goodwin`s big phat band. my favorite lead players.
what i did was listened figured out who i liked then decided where i like to lay stuff and how i wanted things to sound.
lay it fat and they will follow i suppose

watch some jaco pastorius big band videos, they`re all over the net. especially in the chicken.
