Im the best out of all the middle school 7th grade band, I play the trombone. I have noticed in marching band, concert bands, etc. That all the other instruments get a lot more attention than we do. Have you noticed that most tuba players are aggresive and most of the trombone players are open to about anything?

i play bassoon (awesomest instrument evar...) and i always get trombone parts. it sucks. =/ lol... you guys are right. we get stuck with boring half notes all the time. no challenge. but my band director plays trombone and he gave us this piece where the trombones lead. it sounds so cool.

hey guys, instead of sitting by and bitchin about how we get hosed, which is the truth, start writing music that features our instrument. I have been doing that for a couple of years now, and since i still have the resources, we play them at concerts, practice whenever we get the chance, my fellow trombonist who is a child prodigy when it comes to the trombone, and arranging, and writing, and everything that goes with it, has been writing his own music for years, won second place in the IMEA writing comp. (got beat out by a guy who wrote a combo song, his director was in charge of the competition). So get out their and write.

Before I got to my school, t-bones were just mediocre. There was one senior who was good. That was it. You have to make yourself noticed. Ever heard of "bolero,"
it has one of the hardest t-bone solos ever written. I played that, almost flawlessly, (it was hard), but now t-bones, cause i made everyone shape up, are greatly restpected. There is 6 uperclassmen, and 8 underclassmen. And people dont mess with us.
Go trombones.

some comments are dragging trombones down even lower...-_-
Every instrument has made its feature in its time. I believe the trombone, as called a tromba and a sackbutt in the past (mid 1400`s), became very popular within the musical community. The trombone was famous for its ability to reach all notes of the scale with a slide...(obvious), and became permanent in orchestra, symphonic band, etc etc. As the late 1800-1900s went by, Saxaphones and other reed instruments came out...
its just timeframe...to the educated beings, trombone is still considered as one of the powerful instruments....to the regular minds...trombone is something that makes a fart sound with different pitches...only thing that distinguishes the instrument is its fragility and the slide...-_-
but hey..i`m like, contradicting myself right now...-_-

I dunno bout u guys but my middle school band had the coolest trombones ever (even though threre was only two of us), but we were awesome and our band was named the best middle school band in Texas. We got some solos too, so thats proof that trombones are not unappreciated.

I would like to say that as king of the great kingdom of Manjuckaca, i have heard many instruments in my time. I used to be content with the meloncholy euphonium, and the sub par trumpet... but every since my ears have been blessed with the beautiful glisstening tone of a trombone, i have beheaded every sad soul that has dared to come before me lacking the all so sweet brass masterny that lies within the trombone.
