There was already a post similar to this so... sorry. Anyway.. I`m in grade 10 and i played flute for grade 6,7 and 8 then grade 9 i quit band and this year i started again but with trombone.
My school is full of preps and theres only about 35-40 people in grade 9 and 10 band.
Anyway i have to take the bus to school and i feel so akward taking my trombone on. i feel like such a loser. I`m just wondering if anyone has any tips or anything that could boost my self confidence?

They should be embarassed they DONT play trombone. You know theres nothing dorky or stupid or whatever. Its something that you enjoy doing so you shouldnt be embarassed.

Since the majority don`t participate in band you should carry that trombone with you like a badge that identifies you as a member of the elite.

Like any other skilled pursuit, trombone playing is a sign of personal dedication and ability. I used to feel like a dork carrying my instrument around too, but once you get out of high school you`ll realize that classmates who made fun of you about your instrument were just dumb kids like most children at that age. Don`t give up the trombone, especially not on the advice of preps in your school who have never touched an instrument.
