hey I just started playin bass bone in jazz band this year, my teacher thinks i could really excell there because of my range and the volume i get. but anyway the school has a really bad bass trombone it looks bad and it sounds airy sorry i cant remember what brand it is but its a smaller one. But anyways i think im just gonna get one of my own and i was wondering if any of you have experience on bass trombone and what i should look for. I have 2 regular tenor trombones a king and a yamaha and a bach 42t f att already.

Yeah, that is a great horn. One of my students is looking at one right now. I would also suggest a Holton TR 181 or 183, or a Bach 50. My advice, play them all. Play as many of them as you can, and pick the one that works best for you.

I`m not as familiar with the new ones as the old ones. I have an old TR-180. It`s beaten to crap, but I still like it. The new ones I hear are still pretty nice, of course, just like so many things, we can still say, "They don`t make em like they used to." But yeah, I think they are pretty good.
