Low notes?

Well...although I don`t agree about the arguments made against screaming, I`d like to provide a different topic to stop all this arguing. Jeez, are we going to become like trumpet players and argue about everything? Anyway, we all know that lip slurs help in the high register, but what helps in the low register? I`m talking about increasing your range to/past double pedals. Suggestions anyone?

It`s ironic that you ask this question. I recently became involved in a competition against our bass trombone player. So I guess that means I am in need of help in this area too.

The same things that help high notes also help low notes - lip slurs and long tones. Some bass trombone players play hours of long tones. If you have a trigger, try low F on the trigger and slur down to the pedal Bb. Then try low E in T2 and slur down to pedal A, and so on down the slide. If you don`t have a trigger, then make do with octave slurs.
