Um... 1.5 meters, that would be about 4 foot 11? (Silly Americans with no concept of a superior measuring system)

Anyway, there isn`t really a "too short" to play trombone. It makes it a bit harder to reach 7th and sometimes 6th possition easily, but that isn`t really much of a reason to not try. There is a way to reach further on the horn, by rotating your shoulders so your right shoulder leans forward, while keeping your head straight. This will let you reach a bit farther, possibly far enough, while keeping your face securly on the horn.

Other than that, you can also try to get a trombone with a trigger, so you wouldn`t really have to deal with 6th or 7th as much.

I work with two players who are five foot tall or shorter. one does require an f attachment (can barely reach sixth, much less seventh) but both do just fine

there arn`t any height requirments. but yah, what erik said will work, i wouldn`t know, but from what i`ve seen it works. all the beginning trombone players are under 5"5`...which i think is around...umm...1 meter and 65 cm...or at least thats what this converter thing says...but the can`t reach out past 5th postion very easly, but from what i`ve seen they twist and turn around, but they are getting to be really good trombone players. but there isn`t a height requirment, just takes a little more practice on getting out there...just have determnation

Height is not an issue...im only about 5`5"...and i started playing in the fifth grade and was shorter then...if you want something badly enough then you can find a way to work with what God has given you...or not given you...which ever case fits...lol

Try this, when you need to hit the 6 and 7 positions turn your head to the rightand move the slide o the right as well. if the slide points over your sholder and down your arm you will reach an extra 6 or 7 inches. it may look a litle awkward at first but it works.

If you hold the slide lightly between your finger and thumb, it adds a few extra Centimetres and helps technique. It`s easy to drop the slide this way though, so be careful.
