I used to play the trombone for 5-6 years until I sold it because of moving from the UK to the US. The last time I touched a trombone was 6 years ago. I am looking to get back to it but I need some advice on which model is most suitable for me and in my budget.

A bit more about me I used to be about grade 8. I got a grade 5 in both theory and practical and was about to take the grade 8 exam but I had to move. I will probably be playing solo pieces on my own, not looking to join a band or anything. My kind of music are mostly classical and contemporary.

I got to trid a wide range of brands and models over the 6 years I played. I've tried lots of yamaha, bach, edwards, conn etc. The last one I had was a Conn 88H with an F attachment and I loved it most.

now.. I'm looking for a used straight (rotor-less) tenor large-bore trombone, possible a Conn. My budget is around $200-300 max. There are a lot on ebay and some look really good but since I've been out of the game for so long I don't know which is good which is not.

PS: For Conn trombones, Is the higher the model number the better the trombone?

Thanks in advance

I have gone through a few trombones and for the amount of money your wanting to spend, I wold go and get a yamaha student model. But, if you want a really deascent trombone you should go for the conn student model.
New they range from 600-700 dollars. I have a yamaha and I really like it. But recently I got a holten with a F-attachment and I fell in love with it. but yes if you want a reliable trombone yamaha is the best to go.
