it wouldn't mess up your tone. the different mouthpieces are for different people and the range and so on. so as long as you like the sound and feel of the mouthpiece then use that.

it really depends on what you feel comfortable with. I went from a 6 1/2 AL to a 48 to a 7c to a 15c so its taken me while to find the one i feel most comfortable playing with
