pick a note any note now follow the pattern...
Whole step, whole step, Half step, whole step, whole step, whole step, Half step now that is the major scale.

Melodic Minor scale is the same patern but start 4 notes up. (you also can drop the 7th note a half step for a harmonic minor)

There now you can play all major and minor scales.

Here are the major scales for your downloading and printing pleasure. Happy practicing!

And actually, the minor scales do not start on the 4th note. They start on the 6th note, or a minor third down from the root. And they do not have the same pattern.

Minor scales are really pretty easy. To find the relative minor key, (the minor key that shares the same numer of sharps and flats as the major key) you simply take the root of the major key, (the first note of the scale) and go down 3 half steps, or a minor third. For example, the relative minor of Bb Major would be g minor.

Here are some minor scales for you to download. Print them right out and go for it!

Natural Minor:

Harmonic Minor:

Melodic Minor:

By the way, These scales were easy to find. Just a quick Yahoo! Google whatever search and there they are, with dozens of other choices. Seriously, not too hard to find if you take the time to actually look.
