I learnt treble clef trombone in my local brass band, have played various treble clef instruments (keyboard, percussion, piano, trombone) for over 6 years so read it fairly well. I learnt the slide positions for treble clef and everything. Last weekend I went to this 3 day music camp and the people there made me learn bass clef. Sort of lol. So now I know the slide positions and pitching for about 4 notes, but don't know much else! Shoud I keep at bass clef, maybe get me a book or something? Any tips?

its good to know how to read more than 1 clef...i've just started to read treble clef due to my local brassband, but in my opinion, knowing more than 1 clef will help you become a better musician and allow you to have a greater range in music to play (solos, differnet bands, etc.). But in my opinion, if you have the time and the determinaton, than go ahead, whats there to lose?

G'day
As the other reply said that being able to read multiple clefs is a good thing as you can then pick up any piece of music and play it. I can read Alto, Tenor, Bass, Brass Band Treble and Concert Treble and all come in handy for solos and orchestral playing. My advice is go for it and learn as many clefs as you can. It can be quite fun and give you something to practice.

Hey
Wow thats awesome the number of clefs you can play!! I'll stick at it now, its hard for me because I've got treble clef stuck in my mind... but thanks for that. Well done on learning so many clefs though!
