I personally can hit the normal bflat a tuba hits on his bflat scale, however you guys name that note, down to e natural right below the aforementioned note. I can hit high bflat, and a lot of the time high d, but thats all good considering I normally play a bassoon. Besides, I only play the euphonium/baritone, not trombone. I am second chair bassoon and play a baritone for marching band.
my friend though, he can hit notes trumpets can`t hit (I`m serious) and he can go to tuba pedal notes, whatever you guys call them lol. The only person I know that can beat him is this guy that graduated 3 years ago... he was way better lol but still yet, my friend is like super good... He`s a baritone like me though

How does the naming system work on trombones, is it the same as for piano or trumpet? I can play the first pedal note and the 5th C (on a piano) what is that called on the trombone? Thanks.

Hey, I have a great idea. Let`s all tell how low and high we can play on our trombones, then tell each other how old we are. Doesn`t that sound like so much fun?
Please, spare us all the details. So you can play a Bb 5 or a Bb 1 - so you may be 12 years old. No one cares. Can you play music? Because that is what will get you in to Curtis Institute or Juliard. Good Luck
Until next time,
Mr. Greene

Hey guys, great to see that we can play different notes. I would like to point out that after a double pedal Bb (with the tuning slide pulled, in seventh position and with the trigger down) you are not playing notes that actually exist. You are just making noise. The physics of a trombone allow it to play down to BBb in seven, with a long F attatchment, but it can`t go any lower. That is the lowest note (the pitch of which, is 29.125 Hz, and the lowest note humans can hear is about 20 Hz anyway, so if you were playing anything lower than that, you wouldn`t be able to hear it.) You will never play down to even near that note, so don`t work on it, because it sounds bad.
As for high range, you can go as high as you want and the horn will still make notes, but generally in a legit setting, you don`t play higher than maybe a high F (above high Bb) and if you are playing lead in a jazz band, you won`t play higher than the FF an octave above that. But if you work on high range, it can help your not-so-high range, so I a reccomend you keep doing it.
And don`t be arrogant or stuck up, because you just seem stupid to other people. If you are a perfect trombone player, people will hear you and realize that you are, so you will realize that you don`t need to tell them. And if you aren`t, don`t say it. It is just a sign of being unsure with one`s self.
By the way, I can play double pedal Bb to triple high Bb. Have a nice day.

There appears to be some confusion, so I would like to clarify what notes are what. Double pedal Bb is a triple low Bb (BBBb). Pedal Bb is double Bb (BBb). low Bb is the single (Bb). Tuning Bb is zero, I guess. Maybe it is non-existent, but it is. High Bb is single, double high Bb is double and triple high is triple. High BBBb is on ledger line number 11 above the top line. There are seven Bb`s, six octaves of scale between them.

I can play from a low F to a high G. And people, really, it`s not how high or low you can go, it`s really the tone quality, I think. Besides, no one cares how high you can go if you`re so earsplittingly horrible no one wants to listen.

Lowest i can play on tenor is a double C but on bass i can get down 3 Ds below. cant really hear it too well but its there.
highest comfortably on tenor is a triple C above. Highest ive EVER seen a written note is a Double F, it was a arrangement of Wagner`s funeral march. something that ive been living by in all my playing is "its better to have it and not need it, then not have it and need it" Also the higher you can Squeal out the more comfortable the notes right below that become.
