You guys need to go to cougarbones.com and check out their videos. Their section leader goes from double pedal Bb (1st) to triple Bb 7 octaves above that. Thats right, 7 freakin octaves. Thats somethin to prag about. Im section leader in my highschool band and just found out I can play a double pedal Bb. All you got to do is really loosen up your lips. I know thats obvious, but I mean alot....ALOT. Im not too hot on high notes. I think ive almost hit the F right below the 6th octave Bb....

C above the treble clef without using trigger and playing a bore size like a bass trombone with a Conn-CL mouthpiece

I agree with dude. There is a difference of what note you squeese out of the trombone, and what range you actually can play with. Listen to christan LIndberg. he pushes the limit of what is possible with the muscles we have, and he has played so much everyday for many years to get the range that he have.

Joseph Alessi...
Christian Lindburg...

they`ve all shown us the overlimits of the ranges...xD but its interesting to know about the range of the trombone...xD

personally, i think the Trombone has the most well balanced of ranges...xD

Low: Pedal b flat.
High: Triple F

Range isnt everything though. More emphasis should be put into overall sound, style, and flexibility of music styles. Like something largo, to presto, to some jazz. Beggings of notes, and dynamics. If all your emphasis is on this stuff, range will come at ease.

TROMBONE ISNT A FREAKING COMPETITION!!!!!

you guys need to stop worrying about how high you can play. you should be worried about how musical you can play. music isnt a contest. its a interaction of peoples to create beautiful music.

Thank you Mas. I hadn`t posted on this thread yet because I didn`t want to be a part of a urination contest. Who cares how high you can play? Seriously, how many of you can honestly play that low and that high in any style, at any dynamic (including pppp), and, here`s the kicker, MUSICALLY? If your just standing in your band room with your friends showing off how high you can squeeze out a note, it doesn`t count.

If you really want to have a urinating contest, think about your USABLE range. Can you play that etude that goes in a scale to the sustained high F at ppp? Can you make the double Bb in that solo sound just as full and powerful as the tuning Bb? Can you nail the high Eb in Schumann III, IV movement, after all the lead-up to it, still at pp? Can you nail that same high Eb in Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique, IV movement, as loud and powerful as is neccessary, after all the build up before it, at the full ff dynamic?

If you can, great. Good job, keep up the good work. If not, don`t fret, you will eventually if you work at it. But who cares? It` really not a competition. If you want a competition, either go watch the Grammies, or play trumpet.

It depends alot on the horn, I have a Bach Strativarius and it`s rather large horn. My King 2b can go much higher because it`s smaller

well, i started showing off when i can get extreemly musical, i don`t show off on my high or low notes too much, jsut in the music is where i show off at, like rhythems and such. but sometimes i show off when were doing slow quiet stuff and then i either take stuff up octives or down octives...just depends in what mood i am in.
