This is an older article by Tom Ervin, trombone professor at the University of Arizona. It really gives a nice breakdown of what to expect from different levels and amounts of focused practice. There's also a link to other great articles as well.

It motivated me....i only practice like maybe 5 hours a week if even that...

it depends on our rehearsal and gig schedule, but I usually get in 3-4 hours a day. If it's a day off, with no gigs or rehearsals, I generally do more. Whatever the schedule allows.

Oh 3-4 wow u do more in a day than i do in a week, well i don't get alot of pratice done because of school and things after school

I wish I could practice more... so many things to work on. Heck, I heard Carl Fontana do his lip slurs...motivated me.

Wow i know this is a late post but this motivated me and now ill try getting in 2 hours a day instead of 1 hour a day.

That's great, but make sure it's quality, focused practice, not just noodling of playing what you already know. Have a plan.
