Congrats man! I'm really happy for you. There is nothing more motivating than having a good horn. I play a 42BO myself, though mine is considerably older. It ain't pretty, but she plays good. Enjoy the new horn. Sit down with a good tuner, learn the tuning quirks (they vary from horn to horn), then go make some music!

Let's just say I've been playing more years than you have been alive
Is the Navy band dangerous? That depends on what you mean. Are they gonna hand you a gun and send you to war? No. Could you be sent to play somewhere in harm's way? Yes, it's possible. I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone who asks that question. While being in harm's way isn't likely most of the time in the Navy music program, if you are that concerned about it, don't do it. There are no guarantees. It is military service after all. But all in all it's a pretty safe gig. Send me an email if you have more questions about it.
