May I add that Trombone players are usually extremely wierd....French horn players are either crazy or intellectuals. Baritone players aint that bright and neither are Tuba players or they are just boring.... Generally thats the rule..... (I'm a French horn player, i just had to get into the debate.)

Thepope, all musicians are extremely weird in some way. That's just the nature of the business. And I know some baritone and tuba players who are very intelligent.

I played Tuba, Bassoon, Trumpet, trombone, and viola and I have dabbled in some baritone, french horn, and flute. Everyone gets along with everyone but some of the clarinets don't like the trumpets because they sit right behind them and the only thing they can hear is a big brass instrument blasting in there ears.

Personally,my whole band hates the percussion because they are jerks and think a lot of themselves.I believe that if someone thinks there is a stereotype of trumpets and trombones(or other instruments) hating eachother they are immature idiots.Sections may sometimes dislike eachother because the sections behavior but there is no general stereotype that everyone knows of...Ill have to commend the creator of this topic for making an idiotic statement. Its people like you that might make a section hate another section. So if youre wondering why your trombone sections hates your trumpet section..........

Well, there really is no steriotype possible. Our flutes hate the trombones more than the trumpets do, and everybody thinks our very modest percussion section rocks, which is true. What counts is the individual. The thing that really stumps me is that when I started playing tuba in concert band, the flutes suddenly liked me. ???

HAhaa, I think that theres always competition in bands. And I don't actually know why, but in every band I've been in, everyone just takes the !***! out of the trombones. it's funny, everyone laughs. HAha, and yeah, trumpets are show off instruments, and all the trumpeters i know, LOVE to show off.

I give the trombones my love!!!! =]

I'm just gonna add my "2-cents"

In my school band, the lower brass tends to be the most ego-full and cocky, because (1)our instruments are loud! and (2)because we don't care! It's not a bad thing, we just joke around alot and enjoy challenging other instrument groups. Technically, a trombone IS a trumpet...just a bit different (obviously). It's always gonna be a matter of whether the trombones or trumpets are better because it's natural! ALL brass players have a certain attitude in which they will get cocky at times, it's in a brass player's blood! The entire brass in general is just awesome!

I don't hate trumpet players. Trumpets are vital to the band, as are trombones, or any other instrument for that matter. I don't like trumpet players who can't play their instrument well, and don't try to get better, but there's usually one of those in every section.

So do I hate trumpets? No. However, the trumpets are usually the ones to call us "tromboners." It starts getting old after the first 50 times.
