I play trombone to drown out the voices in my head...
Oh, and because it's my job... (nice being paid to do what you'd do for free )

my story is probably not like your alls, I originally wanted to play french horn, still do sort of. But my band director wouldn't let me, we had to trombones what so ever, so no matter what i wanted to play he would say no.
Well, 3 years later and many many accomplishments later, I'm thankful, haha.
With trombone, unlike the other instruments (this is my own opinion) there are more challenges, instead of find a fingering for a particular note or a fingering and embrochure, you must find not only the correct embrochure, but the tuning of the note, (in fast passages) the way your arm is going, and so many many more things. Its a challenge to me every time i pick up the horn just because it has to be a humanly perfect as my abilities will allow me to make it. Its just really challenging to master throughout life

Trombones are awesome!!!!!!! We almost the command an orchestra floor. *cough "trumpets".....stabs them with spork
sorry, but I must strongly disagree. Often the trumpets and trombones have very non prominent roles in the orchestra, and really need to learn to quiet down, lol
bassoons and oboe have the floor in orchestra, no point in arguing. they have all the awesome solos, and plus, the trombone already has jazz, so leave the orchestra to the double reeds!
I am sorry, but what Ignorant thought, saying trombones are the mostprominent in the orchestra, hun/kid, have you even heard an orchestra?
it is clear the only brass with a main role is horn!
