ya I've tried the xeno. it was pretty good. it played pretty smoothly, had a nice tone, the slide was lighter then the 42bo and it wasn't very hard to play. i ended up going with a Bach 42bo instead because i liked the sound better. that's the biggest difference. the sound seems a little brighter on the xeno and didn't suit the wind ensemble sound when i took it to rehearsal. it kind of stuck out. whether that's because of my playing or the horn I'm not sure. but when i used my full lung capacity the blend with other instruments wasn't close to correct. I took the 42bo because it blended better with the rest of the trombones and the instruments around me.

Hi. I read every post here with glee and relish!! What a battle was going on at times!! I started on Violin, switched to Guitar, tried Trumpet, Flute and am now on Clarinet. But I love to hear Trombone. They don't have to play all the time in orchestra ... but when they do you know it and remember it ... what a WONDERFUL sound from such a "simple" looking instrument. There is something PRIMORDIAL about them!! Like they could blow down the walls and then play sweetly to the bricks. (And some day I might just buy one)
