Hello, I`m sure if been asked this before, but i`ll ask anyways...

I plan on learning a brass instrument, however I have a dilemma. Should i learn trumpet or trombone? Which one is easier to learn? I`ve heard trumpet is harder because its difficult to get the right sound, and playing it is too complex. however, I`ve also heard some people say trombone is more difficult as you must remember where to pull the slide for a certain note.

well actually trumpet is really easy .I`m only 15 and i`ve been playing for 3 years. You have to be really fast at moving your fingers though.

i actually just started trombone a few days ago because we had too many saxophoneplayers and too little trombone players. once you get used to the different buzzings, trombone is easy. the slide positions arent as hard as people imagaine. i also play the trumpet, and the trumpet is more challenging, but just in my opinion. its depends on if you want to play the harmony or melody.

I think that you have got too low standards for yourself...

it``s probablly to late but play the trombone, there are 2 many trumpet players, but trombone and trumpets are both hard to play, although trombone is not as hard on your lips

No way, trombone is way more easier to play. You have to like only move to like seven positions, and learn a certain number of notes, but trumpet, i dont even know. Good luck with it

I have been playing the trumpet for 2 years now...I love it...Although I wanna give you an advice..Take the 3rd part!!I have been playing the trumpet on 3rd the whole time now I can hit higher notes than first chair trumpets...Build up them chops..I can pick up a trombone and hit the highest note they can play..I say go with trumpet...Oh yea...I got the Super C today =D.

If you want to learn an instrument simply on how easy one is, don`t even bother with music. I`ve had to deal with enough people who don`t really want to play in band or orchestra, and it p1sses me off when they dont` know a piece, suck it up and bitch about how unfun it is.

I`m a 25 y.o.girl who decided after qualifying as a lawyer, to start learning trombone.
I bought one, but can`t find a teacher where I live. I`ve got the book with CD/DVD, but the farting sound I make is freaking me out. All the colleges and universities around are just people with a musical background.
I`m also learning the piano,the guitar and the flute.

- do u think it`s a good idea to learn many instruments at the same time? I`m quickly progressing though (except for trombone)
- do u think I should go far to get some private trombone lessons? If yes, and for how long?

if the noise your tbone makes bugs you...try this excersise thats like for higher level players but helps a great deal...

you put the mouthpiece to your mouth(no horn) then buzz some notes. like mary had a little lamb.
pick a note from the song and pull the mouth piece away...if you can sustain the note...thats awesome because that means you dont need the mouthpiece for you umbechure(sp) if you cant do it while pulling away...dont fret...ive been playing for 7 yrs and i just started practicing that method...but the buzzing songs into the mp will help a great deal.. then you can learn the slide positions

It is basis to learn notes and read your music, but if you are really interest in comiting yourself to play I would suggest to play both I have only 2 years of playing trumpet and I am first chair of my freshmen year and I am playing tbone as well most of the rest of them.

just play for the sound. im only on my second year, but i`ve had it drummed into my head that at first just go for something that sounds right. if you have a cd, it will help alot... having a teacher is better but if u cant, u cant... :D
yes, the mouthpiece thing helps too. my teacher tells me to sing the stuff before i play it. i dunno if it helps but i do it anyway lol.

If you`ve got the brass chops, sooo go with trombone. But then again, if you like to play mean solo`s with chops, your choic might be trumpet.(Trombone player of 5 years!!)
